This course will be run over two days in a live online format with virtual classroom presentations and facilitated small group practical activities.
The focus of the course is on aspects of rehabilitation for adult hearing implant recipients and relatives, friends and/or caregivers, both pre- and post-implantation. Practical coaching and guiding techniques to support outcomes will be highlighted. Important aspects of Cochlear‘s technology to maximize outcomes through rehabilitation will be included. Theoretical and practical training on auditory rehabilitation, psychosocial therapy and guided self-rehabilitation including the use of apps along with teletherapy and its different modalities will be discussed in detail. The proven communicative benefits of taking a people-centred approach to hearing rehabilitation will be explored along with practical tools that support patient empowerment and ensure a focus on each patient’s own goals.
